We are surrounded by inspiring mothers every single day, so this Mother's Day we asked three Mothers We Love to share their journeys and advice.

Leigh is a super stylish “real” mum who shares the highs and lows of firstly her fertility journey and now her life with banana-loving soon-to-be two-year-old son. She doesn’t shy away from the nitty gritty of what it is like to be a working mother and uses her platform as host of This Glorious Mess: Little Kids to share inspiration, advice and a collective safe space for parents getting through this phase one day at a time.

Leigh, how will you be celebrating Mother’s Day this year?

I’ll be out with my family - they live rurally on the outskirts of Sydney on a big property. We used to go to a fancy seafood buffet at a restaurant but thanks to Covid last year, this year we will be celebrating at home. It’s not as swanky but it’s more meaningful because the kids can run around, while the dads in the family do all the cooking, cleaning and parenting.

At SHEIKE we are celebrating those that are “More than a Mother” –the people who have gone above and beyond. Can you tell us who that person is for you?

Cheesy and annoying to give him the praise, but my husband. He knows I juggle a lot with the various things I do for work and is always a total legend when I have to work weekends or freak out when other stresses are making me cranky.

Tell us what you have learnt throughout your motherhood journey?

I feel like I’ve learned so much but also not much at all and have so much more to learn. My son isn't even two yet, so I am still a total newbie. I know for sure that a mother’s instinct is always spot on, so to trust it. Every time it has led me it has served me well. Also, you will need more bananas than you think. A lot more.

How has your style evolved since becoming a mother?

In the early days I went for pure practicality. It was all about feeding and fabrics you could wash spew out of and items you could throw on without having to waste any brainpower. But now I’d say I dress more like the pre-mum me. I buy what makes my heart sing, what I feel good in and what I can wear mumming but also to the office. I do wear a lot more flat shoes though.

Finally, can you name the women who inspire you the most?

My mum, my sisters, my amazing mother’s group, all my girlfriends and my boss, Holly.I have a lot of remarkable women in my life, and I know how privileged I am to be able to say that.

Firstly, Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby boy, how will you be celebrating Mother’s Day this year?

It’s my first Mother’s Day so it’s pretty special and one to remember. My son is only six months old so my husband will be the one spoiling me! We are going to lunch just the three of us, then spending the afternoon with my Mum and family. I’m sure my hubby will do something extra special with a surprise in there somewhere!

What advice would you give to a new mum trying to findbalance between parenthood and career?

Just stop, and breath. It will all still be there tomorrow. And accept a helping hand. And most importantly look after yourself and navigating that balance. If you’re not in a good place, then nothing is in good place.

Tell us what you have learnt throughout your motherhood journey?

Acceptance. Accepting that I can’t do it all, accepting that the little things, chores, jobs may take forever to do, accepting that some days work and business have to wait. My priority at this point in my life is my son and when he needs me everything stops for him. I really struggled at the start finding the acceptance that I’m not super woman! I can’t do it all. And that is ok. Once I accepted that things would get done when they get done, I felt like I was still achieving and not failing and drowning in the load.

How has your style evolved since becoming a mother?

I love styling my hair but hey with a baby, sometimes this is the last thing on the priority list! So, I have found myself slicking it back a lot in a trusty mum bun, but then wearing bigger style earrings. It gives a sense of style and “effort”.

Finally, can you name the women who inspire you the most?

The women who reach out to say how my brand has made them feel completely inspires me, makes me feel part of a tribe and confirms what I wanted to achieve with Figur is becoming a reality! I truly find all women living their best life and being comfortable with who they are inspiring.

How are you celebrating being a mum this year Kate?

I love Mother’s Day, as it’s such a special family day. I will be spending it with my two daughters, Sophia and Grace, my husband and also my own mum. The girls usually wake me up with lots of cuddles and kisses and they make me breakfast in bed. I also love how I get showered with beautiful hand drawn cards and paintings. I’ll also be celebrating my mum this Mother’s Day with a nice lunch with the whole family.

What advice would you give to a new mum trying to find balance between parenthood and career?

Just find your balance. Don’t compare yourself with anyone else. Everyone has a difference balance

and find what works best for you and your family.

At SHEIKE we are celebrating those that are “More than a Mother”– the people who have gone above and beyond. Can you tell us who that person is for you?

My Aunt Louise has always been a motherly figure for my brother and me.

She treats us like we are her own children. She is always there for us in every way.

Tell us what you have learnt throughout your motherhood journey?

Motherhood is not easy - there are lots of sleepless nights – especially in the beginning with a newborn. And the juggle is real. Finding that work/life balance is not always easy. But we are all just trying to be the best mums we can be. And there is no better role in life. I adore my girls more than anything else in this world.

How has your style evolved since becoming a mother?

My style has definitely changed since becoming a mum. I wear a lot more flat shoes that’s for sure! But now I need versatility in my wardrobe. I love outfits that can be worn in multiple ways - dressed up for a meeting but then can swap out heels and accessories for sneakers or sandals and be worn for school pickup. And also, be comfortable enough for running around the park or at after school sport commitments.

Finally, can you name the women who inspire you the most?

My mum always inspires me. She is always so full of energy and lights up every room she walks into.

Also, she is always so thoughtful and caring. I’m so lucky to have a role model like her as my mum and as a grandma for my girls.
